Ask the Mitothrum concierge

A first taste of our AI guide. It answers from our editorial research — the six rituals and our science series — and it will never invent a product, a price, or a rating.

The six rituals

One ritual, six ways in

A bath soak, a prestige serum, and a sauna blanket belong to the same evening. These are the six pillars of the at-home spa — curated picks for each below.

Prestige skincare

Retinol, vitamin C, peptides and barrier care — chosen for the look of your skin, explained in plain language.

Infrared & sauna

Blankets, mats and cabins — an honest comparison of heat, space and cost, and what research does and doesn’t show.

Rest & Ritual

Weighted blankets, sunrise clocks, white-noise machines and meditation tools — everything for a calmer evening and deeper rest.

How we work

We read the studies so you don’t have to

Every Mitothrum recommendation starts from peer-reviewed research, not marketing copy. We name each study, state its size and its limits, and never upgrade “associated with” into “proven to.”

  • Findings restated in our own words, with the study cited
  • Effect sizes reported honestly — including null results
  • Finnish-sauna evidence never borrowed to sell infrared
  • No detox claims, no disease claims, no transformation promises

What the Science Actually Says

Episode 1: Infrared saunas

Episode 1 · ~6 minutes

The honest summary: the strongest sauna science we have — twenty years of Finnish data on heart and brain health — comes from traditional hot-air saunas, and it is observational: compelling and dose-responsive, but not proof.

Infrared itself has genuine clinical trial data in heart failure through Waon therapy — but that was a supervised medical setting, not a living room. For at-home infrared wellness claims, the evidence is still thin, and no long-term mortality data for infrared exists at all.

We include the 2023 randomized trial that found no vascular improvement after eight weeks of sauna — because the null results are part of the story. And we cut every detox claim: there is no peer-reviewed basis for them.

Next episode: red light therapy — miracle, or marketing? We’ll look at the actual studies.

Comparisons

Settle the choice, not just the search

Comparison is where decisions happen. Our tables use price tiers ($/$$/$$$) and "See current price" links — we never display a price we can’t keep current, and never publish figures from memory. The first comparisons are on the way; the roadmap is below.

Upcoming comparisons
Comparison Ritual Status
Infrared sauna blankets compared: HigherDOSE vs LifePro, plus tents & cold plunge Infrared & sauna Live

We never publish prices, ratings, or recommendations from memory. A missing price is honest; a stale one is not — so our comparisons point you to the live price instead of printing one.
